ARTIST STATEMENT :

“The aim of my 2020 / 2021 artworks , is to celebrate and create an awareness of cultural groups and communities that originate from – or are based in - Southern Africa and that are likely to either be unknown , under – appreciated or misunderstood by inhabitants of mainstream society .

​

Each artwork is created using bespoke pattern designs , Iconography and shapes within a limited – yet vibrant- colour palette .The artworks designed are intended to create beautiful visuals which , symbolically , represent the beauty and uniqueness of each culture .

​

It is my hope that my artworks will assist art viewers to become more tolerant -and appreciative - of cultures and individuals whose customs may - potentially - clash with their own values and perception regarding the definition of what is considered to be the 'right way' to live life."
